UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a benchmark for pediatric quality care. In line with our core value of putting patients and families first, the majority of our patient rooms provide overnight, bedside accommodations for parents to stay with their child. We encourage parents when possible to stay with their child and participate in care and care planning with the health care team.
Inpatient Acute Care Each of our acute care rooms provides accommodations for two adults to stay with their child.
Critical Care Critical care units provide one sleep space for a parent, guardian or designee at the bedside.
While we do not permit siblings or other children to stay the night in the hospital, the following accommodations are available to meet your family’s short-term and long-term needs.
If emergency overnight accommodation assistance is needed, please page a social worker through the hospital operator at 692-5325.

Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) is connected to the hospital by an enclosed pedestrian bridge and provides 74 private apartments with the amenities of home, including equipped kitchens, flat screen televisions, laundry facilities, and internet access. Apartments accommodate a maximum of four guests.

Family House provides comfortable, affordable accommodations for families whose loved one is under active treatment in a local hospital or health care facility. All rooms include a private bath and access to on-site laundry facilities, communal kitchens, dining areas, and fitness facilities.

Note: Family House does not provide medical services, although visiting nurses may come to Family House by appointment. Each patient must have an adult caregiver.
Eligibility: No age or distance requirements apply. Patients who are seeking medical treatment at Pittsburgh area hospitals, as well as their family members and caregivers, are welcome to stay at Family House. Family House also welcomes medical professionals and health-related students.
