Professional Development for the Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Program

The UPMC Office of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) is focused on the advancement of APPs throughout the UPMC Health System.

Clinical Career Ladder

UPMC Office of Advanced Practice Providers (OAPP) offers a 4-tiered clinical ladder:

  • Staff
  • Senior
  • Expert
  • Supervisor

The promotion process involves a multi-step screening and approval system that begins with the employee initiating a promotion application, which is then reviewed at multiple levels of hospital and health system administration.

All promotion candidates will also submit a proposal for a professional contribution that is subject to peer review via the APP Clinical Ladder Governing Council. This professional contribution is an excellent opportunity to engage in research, quality improvement, clinical pathway development and more.

At UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, we maintain focus on career advancement for our APP team and strive to recognize excellence in work performance, institutional commitment and personal achievement. In addition to the OAPP Clinical Career Ladder, there are multiple opportunities for career development and growth at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
