Our UPMC Children’s Specialty Services experts work as a team to provide complete care for our youngest patients.

With a main office conveniently located close to Harrisburg in the borough of Lemoyne, and with pediatric specialty offices in Chambersburg, Lancaster, Shippensburg, and York, our highly trained specialists provide outstanding care close to home. At UPMC Children’s Specialty Services in central Pa., our children’s health experts offer specialty medical care and pediatric surgery for children with a variety of health conditions.

Our providers understand that children have unique health care needs that require a specialized, child-friendly approach. That’s why our UPMC Children’s Specialty Services providers offer comprehensive health care services designed with infants, children, and teens – and their families – in mind.

Seeing a new doctor for the first time can be scary for your child. It can also be overwhelming for you as the parent or caregiver, especially if the visit is for a serious health condition.

Our team at UPMC Children's Specialty Services knows that fear and apprehension are normal emotions for families seeking specialty care. Our attentive and friendly staff will help put you and your child at ease.

Before your child's visit

Some tips to help you and your child get ready for your visit are to:

  • Gather all needed paperwork and personal items so you don't feel rushed or arrive unprepared.
  • Talk positively to your child, at their age level, about the visit so they know what to expect.
  • Role play with a doll or stuffed animal so your child can practice meeting with the new doctor and care team.
  • Stay calm and upbeat. Your child's attitude about the visit will reflect your own.

Finally, call our office at 717-988-0090 if you have any concerns or questions about your child's appointment. Our caring team is happy to talk to you ahead of time about what to expect and how to prepare your child.

UPMC Children's Specialty Services staff will offer patients the first available in-person appointment. If the wait time is not sufficient or an in-person option is not available, a virtual appointment will be provided.

Follow up will occur in Lemoyne, Johnstown, Lancaster, or Pittsburgh, or through collaborative specialist/PCP partnerships.

For providers, please refer by phone (717-988-0090), fax (717-221-5320), or EHR.
