UPMC Children’s Opens State-of-the-Art Broadcasting Studio

January 13, 2020

WHAT: UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will celebrate the grand opening of its state-of-the-art “Dream Big Studio,” where patients create their own television shows or radio programs and develop their broadcast skills.

The live shows are created, produced and hosted by UPMC Children’s patients and are shown on televisions throughout the hospital. Patients who are unable to leave their rooms can still participate in the fun by calling into shows and enjoying special events on televisions throughout the hospital.

WHY: Dream Big Studio helps to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of patients and their families, which helps them cope, heal and find hope during their hospital stay — an emotionally trying time.

The studio was funded entirely by philanthropy, thanks to the Rossin Foundation.

WHEN: 2:30 pm., Thursday, Jan. 16
*The first live show to begin at 3 p.m.
* Media tours at 3:30 p.m.
