UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has two patient portals to help you manage your child’s care with pediatric proxy access.

MyCHP Children's Health Portal

MyCHP is the patient portal for care received at UPMC Children’s Hospital and neighborhood locations. With MyCHP, you can:

  • Send messages to your child’s UPMC Children’s care team.
  • Have a video visit with UPMC Children’s specialists.
  • Stay up to date on immunizations, allergies, health history, and test results.
  • View, download, and print discharge summaries, instructions, and after-care education.
  • View upcoming appointments.

Parents and/or legal guardians can request MyCHP proxy access using the links below or by talking with their child’s UPMC care team at their next appointment.

MyUPMC

MyUPMC logoWhen receiving care at UPMC Children’s locations, you can use MyUPMC to:

  • Complete pre-registration before your child’s appointment.
  • Receive notifications for sooner appointment availability.
  • Schedule follow-up visits.
  • Access medical information from UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics (CCP).
  • Review appointment and medication history, access test results, request appointment and prescription refills, and message your child’s pediatrician.

Why do I need two patient portals to manage my child’s care?

UPMC’s patient portals each have different features to help you manage and access your child’s care 24/7. MyCHP is for inpatient and outpatient visits with UPMC Children’s Hospital specialists. MyUPMC is primarily used for pre-registrations, notifications for sooner appointments, and care received at UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics and UPMC Children’s Express Care.

What is pediatric proxy access?

Pediatric proxy access allows parents/legal guardians to access their child’s health record through their patient portal account. Pediatric proxy access is available for patients/legal guardians from the birth of their child until the child’s 18th birthday.

How do I request proxy access for MyCHP and MyUPMC?

To request proxy access for MyCHP, use the links below or talk to your child’s UPMC care team at their next appointment.

  • For adult patients: Both the patient and the patient's representative must complete and sign the Proxy Request Form for a Patient Age 18 or Older (PDF).
  • For patients 18 and under: If you are a current MyUPMC user and would like to request proxy access for a patient under 18 years of age, log in on the MyUPMC website and click your initials in the upper right corner, select Account Settings, and then Family Access. Click “Add Patient,” to fill out and submit the form. You can also request proxy access on the MyUPMC mobile app by navigating to the “More” tab in the bottom menu, tapping the gear icon next to your name, then selecting “Family Access.”From there, tap “Add Patient” to fill out and submit the form.

Will there be times when I need to use both portals for my child’s appointment?

There are times when you will need to use both patient portals for your child’s appointment.

Before Your Appointment

  • Use MyUPMC to get notified of sooner appointment openings with UPMC Children’s specialists.
  • Complete pre-registration for your child’s appointment in MyUPMC.

During Your Appointment

  • Video visits with UPMC Children’s specialists are through MyCHP.

After Your Appointment

  • Send follow up messages to your child’s UPMC Children’s care team and view test results in MyCHP. Test results can also be found in MyUPMC.
  • Additional summaries or instructions are also available in MyCHP.
