About Food Challenges at Children's
Food challenges are essential tools for diagnosing and managing food allergies in children.
The Food Allergy Center at UPMC Children’s Hospital conducts more food challenges than other providers in this region. While we only offer food challenges at our main hospital clinic, our allergists see children with food allergies at all UPMC Children's allergy and immunology locations.
Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE)
We encourage our patient’s with food allergies to join the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Network’s FARE Patient Registry (foodallergypatientregistry.org). This is a private secure registry that was created by FARE to allow food-allergic individuals and their caregivers to quickly, conveniently and privately share their food allergy experiences with the goal to help researchers better understand food allergies. Sharing this information will power the search for new ways to diagnose, treat, and, hopefully someday, ultimately cure food allergies. Participation in the program involves filling out surveys from time to time. If you are interested, the site Registration (foodallergypatientregistry.org) involves completing a short form and consent.
