What is Lending Hearts?
The mission of Lending Hearts is to provide emotional & social support to children and young adults living with cancer through unique activities and community outreach. The vision of Lending Hearts is a world where children and young adults living with cancer don’t feel alone.
Why Integrative Wellness?
UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh welcomed Lending Hearts’ integrative wellness services to the hospital in March 2017.
Services help our young patients and their families manage issues they face during cancer treatment, such as:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Nausea
- Other health issues
Support Programs for Kids with Cancer
Children and their families can take part in:
- Yoga
- Nutrition coaching
- Aromatherapy during treatment
- Mindfulness
- Pressure point massage
Nurse ambassadors and Lending Hearts service providers have special training in integrative healing methods both at the bedside and in group settings.

Lending Hearts, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit, that provides children with cancer and their families with:
- Emotional and social support throughout cancer treatment and beyond.
- Unique activities and events.
- Wellness programs that focus on mind, body, and spirit.
Louis Rapkin, MD, serves as board member and programming chairman for Lending Hearts.
