Biography Summary

Roxanne Acquaro joined UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in January of 2015. In 1996 she completed her undergraduate work at Chatham College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She received her Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health in 2003.

Roxanne’s extensive work experience includes 12 years spent as a prenatal genetic counselor at West Penn Hospital. She developed and ran an outreach program at DuBois Regional Hospital for 7 years where she was the only provider of genetic counseling services in all of the Northwestern communities of Central Pennsylvania. The move in her career to UPMC was made with the goal of improving service delivery models and efficiency to increase patient access to the amazing resources available in the department. Roxanne enjoys seeing pediatric genetic patients as well as all the work she does as part of the administrative team. She finds the multitude of hats she gets to wear exhilarating and rewarding.

Roxanne is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors as a genetic counselor, a PA-state licensed genetic counselor, and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and the American College of Medical Genetics.
