Your Child's Inpatient Rehab Stay

Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit (CHRU) feeding

We want to help make your transition to inpatient pediatric rehab as seamless as possible.

Here's what to bring to the Children's Hospital Rehabilitation Unit (CHRU) and what to expect during your child's stay.

What to Bring to the CHRU

  • Comfortable clothes — shorts, sweatpants, socks, and shoes.
  • Pictures or other personal items to make your child's room feel more like home.
  • Personal hygiene products — the CHRU can provide these, but you're welcome to bring your own.

What to Expect at Rehab

Within 72 hours of your child's admission, CHRU team will meet with the family to set rehab goals.

During your child's stay, you can expect:

  • 3 hours of therapy (physical, occupational, and speech), 5 days a week.
  • Half day of therapy on Saturdays.
  • Rest and relaxation on Sundays.
