It’s an exciting time in the Department of Pediatric Radiology at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as we prepare to move to a new 10-acre hospital campus in May of 2009. Our department will be filled with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment including PET/CT, molecular imaging and a 3T MRI.
Even today, we are imaging our young patients using cutting edge technology. Our technologists are working with a 64-slice CT scanner, a neurology bi-plane interventional suite, digital equipment and a Phillips PACS system.
In our large academic setting, the technologists have many research opportunities working side-by-side with more than 15 specialized pediatric radiologists. We also have outpatient satellites throughout the Pittsburgh region. The department continues to grow at a rapid pace with a volume of more than 170,000 exams and nearly 130 employees on our growing staff.
Children’s Radiology Department has two main goals: to provide family-centered care and to recruit and retain talented and enthusiastic individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children. Our greatest resource is our employees. Many of our radiology employees have been recognized by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and have won a variety of prestigious awards for going above and beyond to provide excellent patient care.
Our employees come from a variety of backgrounds and with diverse skill sets. To assure their success we provide an extensive orientation and training program tailored for each individual. This allows each employee sufficient time to become familiar with the concepts of pediatric radiology. Each new employee works directly with a mentor until he or she has reached a confident level of competency.
The leadership of the department is dedicated to providing a completive salary, positive work environment with many opportunities for education and growth. We also recognize as a primary goal, the importance of balancing work schedules with lifestyles to allow for family planning and a positive work-life balance.
I invite you to visit our progressive department and meet our dynamic team. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children.
