The Electrophysiology (EP) Community Group at the Heart Institute

The world-class care at the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh extends beyond the operating room. We support each patient and family at every stage of their heart journey.

The Electrophysiology (EP) Community Group is a community for patients with channelopathies, sudden cardiac arrest, or cardiac devices (including pacemakers, defibrillator, or loop recorders). This group is a forum for your child to share questions, concerns, or fears they have experienced since their diagnosis.

Our goal is to create a safe environment where members can build friendships, gain mentors, and support each other through shared experiences.

During our monthly meetings held via Zoom, we will discuss a range of topics, including education about cardiac devices, activities to engage members with the clinical team, and open discussions about navigating life and maintaining mental wellness with the diagnosis.

Our meeting guidelines include:

  • Respect everyone’s heart story
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of members of the group
  • This is your group, if you would like to discuss a specific topic, do not hesitate to share.
  • For specific medical questions or concerns, please contact your provider.
