Ready, Set, School! is designed to help prepare children to function optimally at school and in other settings. The program is offered by the Center for Independence. Professionals from Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology will work with children who participate in the program.
Who Should Participate?
Children who are in pre-school through early elementary and need help developing gross motor, fine motor, and/or speech-language skills.
What Will They Learn?
Ready, Set, School! will help children:
- Develop turn-taking and problem-solving skills.
- Express their emotions effectively.
- Understand feelings in themselves and others.
- Follow rules and directions.
- Improve fine motor skills like coloring or writing, cutting, and snacking.
- Build gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and whole-body movement.
- Improve speech-language skills, like using greetings and answering questions appropriately.
